            <description><![CDATA[<h3><a href="http://alumni.fredonia.edu/TheStatement/SearchArticles/tabid/188/ID/245/Celebrating-Robert-Jordan-on-his-70th-birthday.aspx">Celebrating Robert Jordan</a></h3><br /><div class="Normal"><br /><p style="text-align: justify;">Professor Emeritus Robert Jordan returned to campus in September to perform a piano recital in Rosch <a href="http://alumni.fredonia.edu/TheStatement/SearchArticles/tabid/188/ID/245/Celebrating-Robert-Jordan-on-his-70th-birthday.aspx"></a>Recital Hall in celebration of his 70th birthday.</p><br /><p style="text-align: justify;">The recital featured works by Bach-Busoni, D. Scarlatti, Chopin, Debussy and Liszt. Following a reception and dinner in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room, former colleagues and students of Mr. Jordan&rsquo;s shared stories and memories.</p><br /><p style="text-align: justify;">The event was attended by over 90 friends, former piano students, colleagues and family members.</p><br /><p style="text-align: justify;">Benefactor John Gidwitz of New York City led an effort to establish an endowment fund through the Fredonia College Foundation.&nbsp; Today, gifts and pledges exceed $208,000, in recognition of Mr. Jordan&rsquo;s talent and influence.</p><br /><p style="text-align: justify;">The endowment will be used to provide recruitment scholarships for piano students, assist with student enrichment efforts, and to promote diversity. These performances were transferred to CD from reel to reel as well as cassette tapes. The transfer and compilation was done by Mr. John Caruso, Technical Support Assistant in the Sound Recording Technology Department at SUNY-Fredonia School of Music in Fredonia, New York.
